Zoya is a research consultant at RMI India Foundation working on embodied carbon assessment and reduction in India’s built environment, across buildings and construction materials. Her work focuses on evaluating material emissions and whole-building impacts using life cycle assessment (LCA) to inform decisions across design, materials, and procurement. This supports improved design efficiency and reduces material emission intensity. She works across the construction value chain to identify hotspots and assess viable low-carbon material pathways, translating analysis into on-the-ground implementation. She engages with policymakers, industry partners, developers, and other stakeholders to enable the adoption of low-carbon materials and embed carbon-informed decision-making across the built environment.

Background
Zoya has a strong foundation in building physics and building performance analysis, including energy modelling. Her understanding spans a systems view of building design and operation, covering emissions, HVAC, lighting, indoor air quality, and occupant health and comfort.

Before joining RMI India Foundation, Zoya worked as an architect and construction manager, delivering projects across residential, healthcare, mixed-use, and institutional developments. She managed projects end-to-end, coordinating across design and execution teams, which grounds her current work in the practical realities of the construction sector.
