Role Summary

RMI India Foundation is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented professional to strengthen domestic fundraising operations. The role will coordinate proposals and grant reporting, maintain donor and opportunity data, support gift processing and compliance, prepare donor communications, and keep fundraising, finance, compliance, leadership, and program teams aligned. The ideal candidate combines strong project management, data discipline, communication skills, sound judgment, and comfort handling sensitive information. In addition to day-to-day responsibilities, selected candidate may be able to explore a wider year-long objective as a capstone project.

Core Responsibilities

Proposals & Grant Lifecycle

  • Coordinate proposal development, review timelines, budgets, donor portals, submissions, and Salesforce documentation.
  • Track reporting deadlines; coordinate narrative and financial reports; related follow-ups.

Donor Engagement & Team Support

  • Draft acknowledgements and stewardship materials; support donor briefings, meeting notes, inbound inquiries, and curated materials.
  • Coordinate donor meetings and convenings, including on-site logistics and follow-up; contribute to systems improvement and other Development priorities.

Gift Processing & Donor Data

  • Coordinate donations and grant agreements with finance/compliance; track payments, acknowledgements, and required documentation.
  • Maintain clean donor records, weekly pipeline and revenue projections, files, and data quality.

What We Are Looking For

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; 3-5 years in nonprofit operations, fundraising coordination, data management, project management, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities accurately.
  • Excellent written and verbal English.

Desired Skills

  • Strong judgment and discretion with confidential donor and financial information.
  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising/philanthropy, proposal and grant reporting coordination and familiarity with India’s CSR/domestic philanthropic ecosystem.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; strong Excel skills (including reporting and pivot tables) and comfort with structured data systems such as Salesforce.
  • Experience supporting meetings, events, or stakeholder convenings; willingness to travel as needed.

    • Choose one social, climate, or development issue in India that genuinely interests you. Assume RMI India Foundation is exploring whether there is a credible fundraising opportunity around it. Prepare a concise donor landscape and recommendation.
    • Issue & Opportunity: Define the issue narrowly, identify 2-4 sub-themes where philanthropic/CSR interest appears strongest, and explain why they matter in India now.
    • Donor Landscape & Recommendation: Identify 5-10 relevant funders with evidence of fit; prioritize the 2-3 you would approach first, and flag one important information gap or next research step.

All three documents are required for your application to be considered.

Candidates who do not adequately address the above-mentioned questions in their cover letter may not be considered. Similarly, applications with incomplete materials—for example, a missing cover letter or assignment—may not be considered.

Programme Details

  • Location: New Delhi, India
  • Duration: 12 months, beginning in January 2027 (Start date is flexible within the timeframe of December 2026 – January 2027)
  • Compensation: A market-competitive monthly stipend will be paid to RMI India Foundation Fellows
